Where is Everybody Going? Texas

A March 27 article on FoxNews.com reports on Census Bureau data that indicates that 16% of all people who moved to a new state last year moved to Texas - and the San Antonio area, including New Braunfels, was in the national top ten for population growth.

Why? The “experts” say it is because of  strong local economies and affordable housing.

Final Public Meeting for Proposed New Braunfels Loop

A town meeting is planned for 6:30 P.M., April 2 at the New Braunfels Civic Center on South Seguin Avenue to discuss a preferred route for the proposed outer loop around New Braunfels. This could be the last opportuntiy for the public to provide the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) with input and recommendations for the road,according to an article published March 26 in the San Antonio Express News.

Home Sales on the Rise

The national real estate market enjoyed an upturn last month. The number of resale home sales went up 2.9 percent.

According to a March 25 article in the San Antonio Express News, the number of February, 2008 home sales in the San Antonio area jumped 28.9 percent over January, 2008. However, that number was still 10.1 percent below February 2007. The median home price was up slightly over January, 2008 but was flat compared to February 2007.

 The article said that, nationally, sales of existing homes increased in February after six months of decline. Also nationally, the median price for single-family homes fell 8.2 percent from a year ago.
