 t was at that instant that she heard the timing chip on her running shoe beep as she and her husband Mike crossed the finish line of the San Antonio Marathon. Moments earlier, she’d “hit the wall at mile 23 of the 26.2-mile course and wondered whether she’d met her physical and mental limits. Pushing past doubts, alternately walking and running, she struggled over the last miles, focusing only on the finish line clock at the Alamodome that would record her victory.
As
finishers in the San Antonio Marathon, Kathy and her
husband, Mike, achieved goals they never thought
possible earlier in their lives.
It was a scene she never could have imagined herself in four years earlier, when she was a different person in a different body. “I was out of shape, overweight, in a high-stress, high-tech job as a microcomputer systems manager,” she recalls. “Suddenly, I realized I needed to make radical changes to improve my life.”

Slowly, this determined businesswoman put a plan into motion that would transform her world. As her bathroom scale revealed losses, her fitness regime yielded gains. From short walks she progressed to jogs and finally to 5K runs.
She added swimming and biking to her program and began competing in triathlon events.
“Never in my wildest dreams would I have seen myself attempting a marathon,” she says
Determined from
Day One
While Kathy may have exceeded her own athletic expectations, her determination was apparent early on in both her personal and professional lives. She earned her degree in Computer Information Systems at Southwest Texas State University.
Beginning her career as a computer information analyst at the City of San Marcos, she continued to hone her skills in the technology sector while she and Mike raised three children. After her daughters married and with one child still at home, she switched careers and took her technical expertise into the field of real estate.

Married for more than 30 years, Mike and Kathy have completed marathons and triathlons together, and together captain a bicycling team that rides in the MS150 Bike to the Beach each year, a 150-mile bike ride from San Antonio to Corpus Christi. As the Central Texas real estate market continued to grow Kathy realized that she needed to take her business to the next level.
After more than 25 years as a sales manager in both the lighting and technical publications
industries, Mike joined her and a new real estate team, Team No Limits, was born. |
